Two Year Anniversary!

October 30, 2005 8:48 PM

April and I are nearing our two year wedding anniversary. November 1st was the big day and to celebrate we are taking a week off work and going to Gatlinburg, TN. We are staying at the Mountain Shadows Resort in the Hugs & Kisses cabin. This will probably be the longest I have been without the internet and my computer for a long time. It is worth it to spend good quality time with my wife.

It’s amazing how time goes by. Two years and we are still going strong. Before getting married we dated on and off for about eight years. I could not imagine my life without April and I am glad that we are together. I am still in awe that we got back together after being apart for a year. We will be sure to get pictures of our trip as well as updated pictures of April and I.

To change the subject, I recently bought April an iPod mini since she has been wanting one since they were introduced. I found a good deal for a new iPod mini at Power Max. The reason that she wanted the mini is because it came in pink. She does not understand why Apple would get rid of the mini since she knew lots of people who were wanting one. Oh well.

Since getting her own iPod, she is now thinking about putting all her CDs in iTunes so she can listen to them on her iPod. I have had my 3rd generation iPod for two years and I cannot live without it. I forgot my iPod one morning and I actually had to listen to the radio. It was horrible and I missed my iPod…how sad is that?

Nintendo 64 brings back a touch of nostalgia

October 24, 2005 4:06 PM

I recently received my old Nintendo 64 from my cousins and I could not be happier. Years ago I gave this to them since I had no use for it. I never found enough time to play and figured it would get more use with them. They played the heck out of it. It turns out that this machine is considered outdated, so I ended up getting this back. That’s good news for me.

I have been wanting an older video game system, but really did not want to invest the money. I now have what I have been looking for. To be honest, I was really looking for an original Nintendo, but the Nintendo 64 will suffice. As a bonus, I received additional games that I originally did not have.

I hooked up the nintendo, which took about two minutes and I was off being a kid again. I have been a fan of Super Mario 64 since the game came out, but have never finished the game. I am now determined to do so. I also played Fox Sports College Hoops ‘99, which was cool. I did not play any of the other games since they did not interest me.

Of course being older and having more responsibilities will not allow endless hours of video game playing. However, I figure this will be a nice getaway and hopefully I can find some games that April and I can enjoy together.

Time to get in shape

October 18, 2005 11:05 AM

Since I am such a nice guy I ended up handing my sickness to April. She was not too happy. After being sick for a week we are both back to normal health.

I decided to start exercising again. Why? Well, for one reason to feel better. April works out all the time while I usually just sit on the couch and get a bigger belly. I am usually working on my web development skills, which seems to be taking an incredible amount of time.

I am one of those lucky individuals who would eat and not gain much weight. As I get older I have noticed some changes in my body. My metabolism is not as high as it used to be. I am also not as active as I once was. For this reason I have started my workout plan.

I am not going all out. A basic exercise routine for 15 minutes a day is what I have started out doing. That is good considering it used to be zero minutes a day. As I get in better shape, I will gradually increase my workout.

I usually eat well and take vitamins. I started taking lots of vitamin C so that I can boost my immune system. Some good exercise will also help my memory, which is always nice to have.

Making Some Changes

October 16, 2005 4:54 PM

Notice anything different? I have added lots of new things to my website. I have also changed the entire backend of my journal to WordPress.

Before whenever I posted to my journal, I would write using an application that I have installed on my computer. After I was done the published files would save on my hard drive. Then I had to move the newly saved files to my website so that it would reflect the new material. Very time consuming. I have tinkered with WordPress before but finally decided to make the move.

I can now post to my website on any computer running the internet. Once I post my site is immediately updated. I have changed my navigation to include my web design site, Garrett Creations. This is my professional site to showcase the work I have done.

I have worked for a week to convert my site to WordPress and I think the result came out marvelous. Let me know what you think. You can now post comments.

Sick weekend but added more photos

October 02, 2005 3:00 PM

Well, you asked for it, you got it. I have received feedback that I should add photos of my wife and I. The wait is over. I have placed a few photos for your viewing pleasure in my photo gallery. Unfortunately, since I do not have a scanner, I cannot add pictures that were taken with a film-based camera.

April’s mom was in a car accident last Wednesday. Nobody was seriously hurt, but her car was in bad shape. She has been on medication to help her with the pain. This weekend she got a used Ford Mustang to replace her car. It is great that she is doing better.

This weekend sucked big time. I got sick early Saturday with a sore throat, headache and a high fever. The highest my fever got was 101.5°. My temperature went back to normal this morning, but my soar throat has remained. Because my job deals with talking on the phone, I left work early today so I can recuperate.
